Please read the following questions prior to completing the form at the bottom of this page. Please allow 1 business day for a response. If you need to speak to the rental companies please contact them directly:
CarRental.com.au is an agent for several rental companies but it is also an agent for independent insurers including QBE. At the time of booking you would have been offered car rental cover from QBE as an alternative to the excess reduction that you will be offered at the rental pickup depot.
CarRental.com.au offers exclusive products and prices from independent insurers such as QBE. The price for independent excess cover from QBE is between $10/day and $30/day cheaper than the excess reduction offered by the rental companies. Most customers are shown an offer during the booking process, if you did not take the offer you can still purchase it via the link in your booking confirmation email (its in the first paragraph). If you did not receive an insurance offer in the booking process there will not be a link in your booking confirmation email.
All rental car companies offer excess reduction (also called excess waivers among other things) which reduce the excess payable in the event of an accident from $3000-$3500 to as low as $0. Independent insurers such as QBE offer various travel insurance policies that include excess cover. This means that a QBE policyholder who does not take up the rental company's excess reduction would pay the cost of damages to the rental company ($3000-$3500 depending on the rental company) and then make a claim for that amount to their insurer (QBE).
The rental car companies would consider independent insurers a competitor because customers who use independent insurers do not need to take their excess reduction. Excess reduction costs up to $40 per day plus airport taxes of up to 25% if you pickup at an airport, while independent insurers charge as little as $5 per day for a product which covers expenses caused by damage or accidents.
If you chose to pay for a policy from QBE you should have received an email with everything that you need to know, including what to do at the depot, what to say to staff when you pickup, how to make claims, who are the various parties involved etc. If you did not receive that email please check your email spam folder and if it is not there please complete the form below asap and we will resend the email.
If the insurance is available for your trip there is a link in your booking confirmation. Click that and after payment you will receive a policy number and instructions on what to do at the counter and claims information.
If your booking was made under 21 days ago and the start date has not commenced you can cancel at http://insurance.welovetravel.com/cancel.
If you have a policy from QBE we recommend that you refuse the offer of excess reduction that will be made by the rental company. As mentioned above your QBE policy will cover any excess payments that you need to make to the rental company. Claims are processed by QBE and further details are provided once you buy a policy.
If you made a booking we would have sent you a confirmation email but email is not 100% deliverable. Please check your spam folder as it might be there. Your email contains your password. You can view your booking information by signing in.
Click "SIGN IN" in the top right corner and you can access the My Bookings section. From there you can get the email resent, add a backup email (also available immediately after you make a booking), see your booking details and confirmation numbers and access coupons. Your password would have been created by us when you first made a booking. If you don't know your password, get a password reissue at http://www.carrental.com.au/forgot-password
Links to the coupon pages are included in the booking confirmation emails and the My Account section, see above. All coupons are listed on our Facebook page: www.facebook.com/camperhireaustralia. You do not need to be a Facebook member to view them.
If you paid for insurance on CarRental.com.au, see the question above "How do I modify or cancel my car rental and insurance?". The following is applicable if you did not take insurance.
We advise this course if you want to cancel/change/modify a booking:
1. To cancel a booking visit My Account (only applies to non-mobile users and not available for Redspot customers) or call the suppliers on the phone numbers below:
2. To add extras (GPS, child seats etc) call the rental company with whom you booked.
3. To change pickup or dropoff times by +30 minutes or change dates or locations, create a new booking and cancel the old one (see above for the cancellation process).
CarRental.com.au is an agent of the rental companies and does not handle payments, except for those relating to insurance per above. To get an invoice contact the rental companies:
CarRental.com.au does not take payment for the car rental part of a booking. Please revert to the rental company if you feel that there were unauthorised charges made to your card.
The rental companies take a credit card imprint for the vehicle charge amount (in case you don't close off the bill upon dropoff) and they take a deposit (aka bond) of about $300 in case the car doesn't come back or comes back damaged.
