Baby/child/booster seats and GPS are options on the third (and final) step of the booking process. If available we add the price to the booking amount. If it is not availabile the price shown on our site will not be updated. As a guide though, expect to pay $10 per day per item. Some suppliers cap the fee at $100 per item to. Beyond that though you are advised to bring your own. Extras are also subject to availability.
Yes. Just sign in and you can cancel your booking any time up until the booking date. Cancellation terms for cars and insurance are outlined in our Booking Terms. RentalCover.com policies can be cancelled on the day of pickup.
To change pickup or dropoff times by +30 minutes or change locations or car choice, just create a new booking and cancel the old one. RentalCover.com policies cover you for the full day of pickup and the full day of dropoff. Importantly though, RentalCover.com policies are valid for any car from any site anywhere in the World.
There are three options: (1) We have an insurance partner RentalCover.com that guarantees to save you 50% on the cost of excess reduction. With a RentalCover.com policy you would refuse the supplier's excess reduction (aka "excess waiver") at the depot. Excess reduction from suppliers cost more, cover less and have higher claim fees. With RentalCover.com, in the event of an accident you would pay the supplier and claim the full amount from your insurer. Your other options are: (2) Take no insurance, in which case you potential liability is $3,000-$5,000 depending on the vehicle, and risk that the repair charges are grossly inflated so that you pay more than the true repair cost. (3) Take the supplier's excess reduction: Unfortunately the "reduced" excess is still pretty high ($500-$1000 depending on the vehicle) compared to RentalCover.com ($50 or so) and, unlike RentalCover.com the suppliers exclude many claims (e.g. they typically reject claims for single vehicle accidents, accidents in the night time, hitting animals, windscreen/tyre/headlight/underbody and roof damage).
The prices we show are either (a) the same as the supplier's website, or (b) cheaper than their website. This means we are able to offer a "best price guarantee" on any vehicle from a given supplier. We work closely with various travel agents and travel technology companies to sift through millions of vehicle alternatives, then we display the cheapest one to you from hundreds of alternatives. You can also click the "compare prices" link on our search results to see most of the other results.
We also promote up to $100 off coupons. You can see those on the search results page. After you book you can access the codes and then attach the code to your booking by contacting the supplier. The coupons are issued by the suppliers and are not applicable for 100% of bookings, but most are covered!
Lastly, we offer alternative insurance from RentalCover.com, a site that provides insurance for vehicle renters. The price is usually 50% or less than the cost that you will pay for insurance at the depot! Just add it to your booking by clicking the "Include" button once you've chosen your car.
You pay the car rental company on collecting your vehicle. We do not collect payment or credit card details, instead we automatically submit your details to the car rental company when you make a booking using our easy 3 step process.
Prices we display are direct from our partner websites. We do not charge fees for this service, instead we receive a small booking commission from the suppliers. The full fee breakdown is shown on the booking page (step 3). There are no hidden fees, though the suppliers may charge credit card fees at the depot. One major fee is the "airport surcharge" or "premium location fee" which adds up to 25% (at major metro airports) to your total cost (note that it will be added to the excess reduction cost if you take that from the supplier rather than our insurance partner RentalCover.com . You can avoid these by picking up at a nearby location (you would be taken to the depot by the supplier via "free shuttle" or "meet or greet"). Note also that airport dropoffs don't incur surcharges, just pickups.
Yes you will get all the points that you would earn by booking directly with Thrifty, Europcar, Hertz, Avis and Budget. We show the earnable (is that a word?) points on step 2. Add your frequent flyer number into the Travel Profile after you complete your booking.
Under 21s unfortunately are not eligible to rent cars in most countries. If you are 25 these estimated "underage surcharges" will be applied at the depot: Hertz $30/d, Budget $17/d, Avis $29, Thrifty $22, Redspot $17. Note however that the insurance policies offered on RentalCover.com do not have an underage surcharge and are valid for drivers aged 19 to 70.
Change who is covered by the policy: Click "edit" in My Account. The policy will be updated automatically free of charge.
To add another driver to the policy: Please reply to your emails from RentalCover.com and let our friendly support team know the names of the additional driver/s. They will provide you with a quote for those additional drivers.
