To make the most of your time in Tasmania you need to rent a car. Other transportation options are limited here and with so much to see and do it pays to be flexible and have the freedom that a rental car will give you. You can pick your rental up at Hobart Airport or in Hobart itself. To get from the Airport to the city you can get a shuttle for $15 AUD per adult or a cab for around $35 AUD. Hobart is an historic city full of wonderful attractions like the Cascade Brewery or the Salamanca precinct. From Hobart you can visit all of the treats Tassy has on offer for foodies, adventurers and sports people alike. You can climb Mount Wellington or visit the Hastings Caves or take advantage of the mountain streams and go trout fishing. Tasmania is also full of remnants of Australia’s convict, colonial history and a perfect place to discover what life was like for settlers, both voluntary and not so voluntary, in the 18th and 19th centuries.
