Sydney Airport is most people’s first port of call in New South Wales and is home to all major car rental outlets. To get into the CBD it will cost you about $30 AUD in a cab or $15 AUD per adult on the train. It is a pretty quick drive from the airport to the city, depending on traffic of course, and nothing beats the freedom of having your own transportation so you can explore the City and its surrounds at your leisure. And there is a lot to see. A cheap rental car means you could visit the relaxed beachside towns of the South Coast such as Bulli and Kiama, or the Central Coast with its isolated beaches and its renowned B&B accommodation. Alternatively, you could drive over the Blue Mountains and experience the wine and food delights on offer in Mudgee - either in luxury or roughing it with a rental 4WD. Not to mention driving over Sydney’s iconic Harbour Bridge and being able to really discover the delights of the Harbour and some of the less well-known parts of the city.
All car rental desks at Sydney Airport, like those from leading companies such as Hertz and Avis can be located at the arrivals level of both international and domestic terminals.
