FAQs

How do I add a baby seat or GPS?
Baby/child/booster seats and GPS are options on the third (and final) step of the booking process. Availability and costs are displayed. It might be cheaper to bring your own seats or GPS units as the charges are north of $9 a day for each.

How do I cancel?
Sign in at the top right corner of your screen using your password (you may already be logged in). Passwords are created when you first book with us so it may be in your inbox or you can get a reissue using the "Can't Access Account" link. Once in your account click on the cancel button for the appropriate booking.

How do I modify/make changes
As prices change every few hours you risk losing a good deal so what to do depends on what you need to change/modify.To change pickup or dropoff times by +30 minutes or change locations or car choice, create a new booking and cancel the old one.To add GPS and child seats to an existing booking it's best to call the provider: Avis is 136 333; Budget 1300 362 848; Hertz 13 30 39; Thrifty 1300 367 227; Europcar 1300 13 13 902.

What about insurance/excess reduction?
Car rental insurance is confusing! If you wish to reduce your excess we encourage you to do that upon picking up the car, with the exception of Redspot who provide our customers with awesome $0 excess reduction that includes free tolls. If you are looking at Hertz, Avis, Budget, Europcar or Thrifty we suggest looking into inexpensive travel cover as it will save you about $20 per day.

Are the prices the same as Avis, Hertz etc etc?
Ours are generally better. Our coupons are exclusive so they give you the opportunity to save up to $100 or so, depnding on the offer and the supplier. Our Europcar prices are up to 5% cheaper than Europcar.com.au. And our Redspot $0 excess reduction price is a speial offer for our users, it includes free tolls among other things. Please note that we don't add a booking fee, you pay the shown price on pickup.

When do I pay?
You pay the car rental company on collecting your vehicle. We do not collect payment or credit card details, instead we automatically submit your details to the car rental company when you make a booking using our easy 3 step process.

What are the taxes, surcharges, airport fees etc?
Prices we display are direct from our partner websites. Their fees include:Airport pick up fees of up to 22% extra per day. The names and rates for these differ by company and location. Sydney Airport is the most "taxed" airport (19-20% per day). It's an exorbitant fee, we recommend getting a cab as it only applies to airport pick ups not drop offs. One way rental fees (on the East Coast these are rare though e.g. Melbourne to Sydney there is no one way fee). Others incl vehicle registration Fees, "Admin" Fees (these aren't ours of course) GST.

Will I get all my points?
Yes you will get all the points that you would earn by booking directly with Thrifty, Europcar, Hertz, Avis and Budget. We show the earnable (is that a word?) points on step 2. Add your frequent flyer number into the Travel Profile after you complete your booking.

Do I have to be over 21 or 25?
An underage surcharge of between 7%-10% per day applies for 21-25 year olds, depending on the rental company. Cars are not available to Under 21's. We would recommend that an older driver book and drive.

Canberra Airport has recently become a busy transport hub with surrounding shopping centres, paid parking, petrol stations and all the earmarks of increased passenger flows. No longer does one look out while waiting for the plane to arrive and see a few sheep chomping on the grass! To get into Canberra city, expect to pay about $25 in a cab. There are frequent buses nearby but unless you are there for business, and the main business in Canberra is government, you're unlikely to get a chauffeur driven car easily. Unlike other airport car rental locations, there's no trains from Canberra airport.

Canberra International Airport serves Canberra and some of the Riverina district in regional NSW. It adjoins Queanbeyan in NSW and North Canberra and neighbours Fyshwick, an industrial suburb of Canberra. There are 7 larger airports in Australia. Canberra Airport has 2 run ways and runs a busy 30 minute shuttle to Sydney. in 2008/9 it handled 3 millions pasengers.A major redevelopment has recently been completed. A high speed rail link including Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne is currently under consideration, however it has been under consideration for over 10 years.

No levels of government have committed funding for the program, possibly because federal parliament sits in Canberra and it runs the risk of political pork barreling claims. A high speed rail trip from Sydney to Canberra would take 50 minutes, meaning Canberra could effectively be a major alternative international airport serving the same area as Sydney. Necastle and the region surrounding Sydney are also claiming that mantle.

A recent study recommended that Canberra Airport commence flights between Cairns and the Sunshine Coast, and another 5 years on it suggested more regional and second tier airport flights to Avalon, Launceston, Dubbo, Bankstown and Coffs Harbour. Long term alternatives include Armidale, Alice Springs and Tamworth. Possible inetrnational routes could include NZ, Singapore, India, Europe, Fiji, Bali and China.
