FAQs

How do I add a baby seat or GPS?
Baby/child/booster seats and GPS are options on the third (and final) step of the booking process. Availability and costs are displayed. It might be cheaper to bring your own seats or GPS units as the charges are north of $9 a day for each.

How do I cancel?
Sign in at the top right corner of your screen using your password (you may already be logged in). Passwords are created when you first book with us so it may be in your inbox or you can get a reissue using the "Can't Access Account" link. Once in your account click on the cancel button for the appropriate booking.

How do I modify/make changes
As prices change every few hours you risk losing a good deal so what to do depends on what you need to change/modify.To change pickup or dropoff times by +30 minutes or change locations or car choice, create a new booking and cancel the old one.To add GPS and child seats to an existing booking it's best to call the provider: Avis is 136 333; Budget 1300 362 848; Hertz 13 30 39; Thrifty 1300 367 227; Europcar 1300 13 13 902.

What about insurance/excess reduction?
There are three options: (1) We offer Comprehensive Travel Insurance with Excess Reduction from QBE. This is $10-$22 cheaper per day than the suppliers cover. The cost saving and the price is shown after you choose a vehicle. The cover amount is up to $3000 (beyond that you don't pay anything if the standard liability per (1) above is $3000. If it is more than $3000 you can top up your cover). Excess payable to QBE if there is damage is only $50, they will pay all other costs. If you take this option you do not need the excess reduction offered by the suppliers at the depot.(2) Take the rental company's excess reduction which costs approx. $27-$35 per day (plus airport pickup fees of 10%-25%, depending on the airport surcharge). Excess payable in the event of damage will be $0 to $330 depending on the supplier.(3) Do nothing and for any damage you will be liable for up to $3000 or so, depending on what the "standard" liability/insurance is from the rental company.

Are the prices the same as Avis, Hertz etc etc?
Ours are generally better. Our coupons are exclusive so they give you the opportunity to save up to $100 or so, depnding on the offer and the supplier. Our Europcar prices are up to 5% cheaper than Europcar.com.au. And our Redspot $0 excess reduction price is a speial offer for our users, it includes free tolls among other things. Please note that we don't add a booking fee, you pay the shown price on pickup.

When do I pay?
You pay the car rental company on collecting your vehicle. We do not collect payment or credit card details, instead we automatically submit your details to the car rental company when you make a booking using our easy 3 step process.

What are the taxes, surcharges, airport fees etc?
Prices we display are direct from our partner websites. Their fees include:Airport pick up fees of up to 22% extra per day. The names and rates for these differ by company and location. Sydney Airport is the most "taxed" airport (19-20% per day). It's an exorbitant fee, we recommend getting a cab as it only applies to airport pick ups not drop offs. One way rental fees (on the East Coast these are rare though e.g. Melbourne to Sydney there is no one way fee). Others incl vehicle registration Fees, "Admin" Fees (these aren't ours of course) GST.

Will I get all my points?
Yes you will get all the points that you would earn by booking directly with Thrifty, Europcar, Hertz, Avis and Budget. We show the earnable (is that a word?) points on step 2. Add your frequent flyer number into the Travel Profile after you complete your booking.

Do I have to be over 21 or 25?
An underage surcharge will be applied over the counter for drivers between 21 and 24/25 (see below). All prices shown are estimates and exclude GST: Hertz $30.25 p.d. (21-25 year old drivers), Budget $16.50 p.d. (21-25), Avis $28.50 (21-24), Thrifty $22 (21-24), Redspot $16.50 (21-25).

Packing Light for your Campervan Hire Tasmania Trip
ARTICLE SUMMARY
Even when you are travelling in a campervan you have to travel light. This will give you more space to seat people comfortable and enjoy the trip you are taking in you campervan hire Tasmania.
ARTICLE BODY
A campervan hire Tasmania trip is a common pastime for many people. Whether young or old you have the ability to bring a larger group of people with you than you ever would in a car. Unfortunately because of the extra space people are often encouraged to bring more than they actually need with them.
In fact with a lot of people the most common practice seems to be the bigger your container the more stuff you can fit in. This in effect sometimes causes people to bring even more items than they should bring, since they are after all in a much bigger vehicle.
Now it’s pretty certain that you don’t want to be spending your mini holiday cramped up with people and clothes. There are a couple of ways that you can keep the clothes and other items at a minimum so that you fit better in the campervan. Packing light sounds like an easy task but it doesn’t come naturally to most people in general. Here are a couple of tips and techniques that you can employ to ensure you do it right.
First make sure you know exactly how many days you will be spending on the road in your campervan hire Tasmania vehicle. You have to make sure you know this so that you know how many items of clothing you’re going to need on your little journey. Once you have set that correctly and know exactly how long you will be set aside one piece of top wear for each day. This means you at least have a fresh shirt everyday. You can then add one pair of bottoms which you can use throughout the tip. Jeans are heavy but they save space since they can be used multiple times.
Second, get everyone to roll their clothes. You would be surprised at how much space rolling your clothes saves. When you roll your clothes they take up a smaller surface area and therefore save you lots of space. Campervans will typically have at least an area where you can hang clothes, take advantage of this space correctly and you won’t even need to roll your clothes.
Third, if you bring food, make sure you put it into a bag. If you have a small box that also serves as an option. The box will keep chip bags, cans and whatever else organized so that it doesn’t get scattered around the campervan.
That’s it, three basic tips that will make your packing job easier. Try it on your next road trip in your campervan hire Tasmania.
