The inclusion of the Toyota Camry into their existing fleets also addresses concerns by Hertz corporate customers who have long sought alternatives to cutting down the cost of renting a car as well as the impact that such vehicles would have on the environment.

With their new hybrid hire, Hertz is offering a car that is powered by a 2.4 litre, four cylinder petrol engine and an electric motor. The motor is activated during deceleration or while the vehicles is stationary, a feature that will significantly reduce exhaust emissions from each car.

The hybrid Camry is estimated to consume no more than 6 litres per each 100 kilometres travelled. This calculates out to roughly 30% less than vehicles of a similar size that are furnished with a standard petrol engine.
