Ace Rental Cars began over 25 years ago, basing its headquarters and main operations within New Zealand. It expanded into Australia by establishing rental depots in Brisbane, the Gold Coast, and the Sunshine Coast.

Michel Taride, the president of Hertz International, said that the acquisition was designed to allow Hertz to groom Ace Rental Cars for a broader base of Australian business. He further noted that Ace will continue operating with its own brand and that all management will be retained.

Hertz will focus on upgrading Ace's no-frills products, including promotionals wherein customers can obtain frequent flyer points as well as rent from a selection of late model vehicles.
