How do I modify/make changes
As prices change every few hours you risk losing a good deal so what to do depends on what you need to change/modify.To change pickup or dropoff times by +30 minutes or change locations or car choice, create a new booking and cancel the old one.To add GPS and child seats to an existing booking it's best to call the provider: Avis is 136 333; Budget 1300 362 848; Hertz 13 30 39; Thrifty 1300 367 227; Europcar 1300 13 13 902.

What about insurance/excess reduction?
There are three options: (1) We offer Comprehensive Travel Insurance with Excess Reduction from QBE. This is $10-$22 cheaper per day than the suppliers cover. The cost saving and the price is shown after you choose a vehicle. The cover amount is up to $3000 (beyond that you don't pay anything if the standard liability per (1) above is $3000. If it is more than $3000 you can top up your cover). Excess payable to QBE if there is damage is only $50, they will pay all other costs. If you take this option you do not need the excess reduction offered by the suppliers at the depot.(2) Take the rental company's excess reduction which costs approx. $27-$35 per day (plus airport pickup fees of 10%-25%, depending on the airport surcharge). Excess payable in the event of damage will be $0 to $330 depending on the supplier.(3) Do nothing and for any damage you will be liable for up to $3000 or so, depending on what the "standard" liability/insurance is from the rental company.

Are the prices the same as Avis, Hertz etc etc?
Ours are generally better. Our coupons are exclusive so they give you the opportunity to save up to $100 or so, depnding on the offer and the supplier. Our Europcar prices are up to 5% cheaper than Europcar.com.au. And our Redspot $0 excess reduction price is a speial offer for our users, it includes free tolls among other things. Please note that we don't add a booking fee, you pay the shown price on pickup.

When do I pay?
You pay the car rental company on collecting your vehicle. We do not collect payment or credit card details, instead we automatically submit your details to the car rental company when you make a booking using our easy 3 step process.

What are the taxes, surcharges, airport fees etc?
Prices we display are direct from our partner websites. Their fees include:Airport pick up fees of up to 22% extra per day. The names and rates for these differ by company and location. Sydney Airport is the most "taxed" airport (19-20% per day). It's an exorbitant fee, we recommend getting a cab as it only applies to airport pick ups not drop offs. One way rental fees (on the East Coast these are rare though e.g. Melbourne to Sydney there is no one way fee). Others incl vehicle registration Fees, "Admin" Fees (these aren't ours of course) GST.

Will I get all my points?
Yes you will get all the points that you would earn by booking directly with Thrifty, Europcar, Hertz, Avis and Budget. We show the earnable (is that a word?) points on step 2. Add your frequent flyer number into the Travel Profile after you complete your booking.

If you are interested in the slower pace of life in Melbourne, try stopping by the Abbotsford Convent. No longer an actual convent, it now provides visitors with freshly baked goods at the Convent Bakery and a homemade soda at Handsome Steve's House of Refreshment. The Slow Food Market will also get you in gear for a smorgasbord of local produce.

Visit the Como House to witness some of the most historical architecture throughout the city, hailing all the way back to 1840. Governor La Trobe's Cottage & Government House dates back just as far and can be toured complete with much of the same furnishings as when it first opened. Take in the Victorian designs of the terrace rows along Tasma Terrace, a piece of Melbourne that stretches to 1879.

Good reasons to wear your seatbelt; Melbourne Car Hire

There is no other way to be as safety as you are when your seat belt is correctly used, that means obviously fastened. Think about it while driving your Melbourne Car Hire.

An important part of Melbourne car hire safety is to wear your seatbelts. There are literally dozens of reasons why you should wear your seat belt and every one of them will help you save your life. Unfortunately wearing a seat belt isn’t considered by many people as cool. It isn’t considered particularly fashionable either. For some people it can be downright uncomfortable. Regardless of what reason you have though, there is no excuse for you not to wear your seat belt. If you are one of those people however who looks for a reason for everything, then here are a list of items that should make you think twice about buckling up.

You will save your face from a broken nose. If you think seat belts don’t look cool then you’re going to be in for a bigger disappointment when you break your nose. When you are in a car, you don’t see it but your body is travelling just as fast as the car that you’re in. What this means for you is that if your car happens to stop when you crash into something, not wearing a seatbelt is going to keep you moving, which means you are eventually going to hit your windshield thus ending up with a broken nose.

Your Melbourne car hire has seat belts for another reason. You know how sometimes you get into a car and the person on the other end bangs into your head because they were also getting in? Well that happens because the car is small and you really only have so much space to move. In case of a car accident, some injuries have been caused by people banging into each other because they weren’t wearing their seat belts.

Another reason to buckle up is that seat belts can save you from car crashesin water. The impact that occurs when your car hits the water is immense. This can cause you not just to hit the windshield of your car but it can also jolt you into unconsciousness. The seat belts keeps you secure and that will ensure that you stay alert. This will obviously increase your chances of survival.

One other reason to wear your seat belts is that your air bags can really only help you out so much. Air bags are effective, but they are nowhere near as effective as seatbelts. Even with an air bag you can still get flung out of your car and will still get injured.

And there you are. A couple of reasons to wear your seat belts when driving your Melbourne car hire.

ying Safe in Your Melbourne Car Rental
ARTICLE SUMMARY
Your first rule of business in a Melbourne car rental is to stay safe. So regardless of how much in a hurry you are or whether you re out for a night on the town, keep yourself safe first and having fun second.
ARTICLE BODY
Your Melbourne car rental is made of steel which means it isn’t impenetrable. People seem to have a notion when they get in their cars that they are invincible. Either that or they would rather just act like they are. Road accidents unfortunately aren’t few and far between. Rather they happen practically everyday, regardless of race, religion or colour. No one can truly say they are 100% safe from a car accident but they can surely make an effort to ensure that they are protected from one. Here are a couple of things you should remember in order to make sure you are safe and protected.
First of all check your seat belts. Your seat belt is meant to resist if a certain amount of pressure or force is applied to the lace. Try to give your seat belt a short, quick tug and see if it stops. This is the mechanism that keeps you safe. If this doesn’t work and you don’t get resistance back it means that your seatbelt isn’t working as it should and you should inform the rental company. Unfortunately not many people know this piece of information and that’s why they get serious injuries from car accidents.
Driving safely is another important safety aspect of staying safe in your Melbourne car rental. Defensive driving is a technique that is used all over the world. Good drivers are defensive drivers and there are tons of ways to put it into practice starting from staying focused, keeping your eyes on road signs and so on. Defensive driving is a skill that is developed and like all skills it eventually becomes a habit. Just like other motor skills people develop the motor skills involved in defensive driving and it eventually becomes something that they do on their own without minding it.
Another aspect of car safety is not to drink and drive. It can be tempting, in fact very tempting to go out on the town to have some fun and drive yourself back home drunk. Plenty of lives are lost this way and it is such a shame and a waste to think that it could have been prevented just by staying sober. Of course the goal isn’t necessarily not to drink. You can get a friend as a designated driver to ensure you don’t drink and drive.
Remember that whatever the case, your goal is to stay safe and sober behind the wheel. Make sure you check your car for issues, especially seat belts and you will be a step further from accidents.
